Kaitlyn Shain Earns HOCKEY EAST Accolade

STORRS, CT (October 27) -- Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Shain (Calgary, AB) has been named HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week thanks to her outstanding performance in UConn’s 1-1 tie at No. 8 New Hampshire on Sunday. Shain earns the honor for the first time in 2003 and the fourth time in her career at UConn.
Shain stopped a career-high 43 shots in the tie with UNH, allowing UConn to come away with an important HOCKEY EAST point. Shain has earned a 1-1-1 record in 2003, and boasts a goals against average of 0.98 and a solid save percentage of .968.
UConn is back in action Saturday, November 1 when they play host to Princeton at 2:00 p.m.
