STORRS, CT (Dec. 30) – The University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team was not just resting on its laurels after winning four of its final five games heading into the holiday break. The Huskies raised $470 to be donated to the Wheeler Clinic, a not-for-profit organization based out of Plainville, CT that is dedicated to fostering positive change in individuals, family and the community.
Each child received a stocking that included candy, a hat and gloves and the team also supplied board games such as Clue, Monopoly and UNO.
“Thanks so much for these generous gifts that will make lots of kids we help very happy this holiday season.” said David Berkowitz, Executive Director of the Wheeler Clinic.
Head coach Heather Linstad was happy with her player's dedication to the cause, "I am very proud of the players for making a commitment to help others."
The Huskies are back in action on Friday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m. for a contest against No. 10 Minnesota State at the UConn Ice Arena.
