Thomas Helps USA Defeat Germany in Team Decathlon

BERNHAUSEN, GERMANY (August 5) - Will Thomas of the University of Connecticut men’s track and field team represented the United States as Team USA defeated Germany in the 11th annual decathlon team competition between the two countries.
Thomas, a two-time All-American, was among the leaders on the second day of competition before recording three fouls in the discus. Despite the setback, Thomas finished 10th with 6,787 points.
Americans finished in the top three positions over the weekend, with David Lemen (Marysville, WA) taking first place with 7,748 points. Team USA won by an overall score of 37,447 points to Germany’s 34,962 points. The 2,485 point differential is the second greatest in the history of the event and Team USA leads the overall series 8-3.
