NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 10, 2004) - Jason Parajeckas tied for sixth overall, nine strokes ahead of any of his teammates as the University of Connecticut men’s golf tied places in a solid tie for fourth place out of 15 competing schools at the MacDonlad Cup, contested this weekend at the Yale University Golf Course in New Haven. Overall, UConn shot a 901 to equal Army’s total. Binghamton won the event with a tally of 888.
Parajeckas finished with a 219 (+9) over the three rounds, leading the Huskies and tying Rick Reissman of the host Bulldogs for sixth overall. The sixth place finish is the best for a Husky golfer in any tournament this fall. Parajeckas had placed eighth at the season-opening Rutgers Invitational. Justin Ciombor tied for 22nd overall with his 228 while Brian Travalja was the third Husky finisher, tying for 27th overall, with his 230. Fellow freshman A.J. Siekierski was a shot behind at 231 while Jordan Burke was a stroke behind Siekierski with his 232.
The Huskies return to action on October 18-19 when they head down the Cape for the New England Championships in Brewster, Mass.
