PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Oct. 11) - Three University of Connecticut women's soccer players garnered BIG EAST Player of the Week honors as announced by the BIG EAST Conference on Monday, Oct. 11. Junior Kathleen Frank (Lansing, Mich.) was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, with fellow juniors Megan Jessee (Orefield, Pa.) and Alisse Kosloski (Wernersville, Pa.) earning Goalkeeper of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. It is the first weekly conference honor for all three athletes. The Huskies went 2-0 in BIG EAST games this past weekend, defeating Syracuse, 2-0, on Friday and Seton Hall, 3-0, on Sunday.
Kathleen Frank, who just recently moved to the forward position from midfield/defense, netted the game-winning goals in UConn's two wins this weekend. Frank has scored three goals in the last four games and has nine points on the season (four goals, one assist).
Megan Jessee recorded two shutouts on the week, blanking both Syracuse and Seton Hall on the road. The keeper made three saves against the Orange and added two more saves against the Pirates. Jessee currently has a shutout streak of 258:14, not allowing a goal since 4:38 into the Georgetown game on Oct. 3.
Alisse Kosloski led the defensive efforts that shut down two opposing BIG EAST offenses on the road. The Huskies limited Syracuse to six shots, three on goal, in the 2-0 win and then held Seton Hall to three shots, two on goal, in a 3-0 shutout two days later.
UConn will return to Morrone Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 13 to face Brown at 5:00 p.m. The Huskies will then return to BIG EAST action on Oct. 17, taking on Villanova in Villanova, Pa.
