Women's Tennis Competes at Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Oct. 3) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team competed in the Brown Invitational Oct. 1-3. The Huskies did not advance past the quarterfinal round of singles play, but had success with their doubles competition.
The duo of Liz Dibbs and Barbara Schumsky easily moved through the first two rounds of the Flight B Doubles, defeating both opponents by scores of 8-2. Dibbs and Schumsky then were tripped up in the finals match, falling 8-6 to Dartmouth's Suydam and Fitchet.
In the Flight A Doubles, Whitney Simcik and Jen LoRusso defeated Colgate's Alikpala/Seaton, 8-3, to move to the semifinal match where they fell to Ahmed/Zebroski of Dartmouth. The pair rallied to take the third-place match by a score of 8-4 over Shmakova/Balasa of Rutgers.
