ISSUE, MD (March 28) – The University of Connecticut’s men’s golf team placed 16th out of 24 schools competing at the George Washington Invitational, held March 27-28 at the par-72 Swan Point Country Club in Issue, Maryland. The Huskies finished with a two-round score of 640 (+64), a steady improvement from the 659 the team shot over 36 holes in its last outing. The host Colonials won the event with a final tally of 596 (+20). UConn finished second out of the three participating BIG EAST Conference schools as the Huskies trailed Villanova but topped Seton Hall.
Freshman Dan White had his second impressive showing in as many tournaments, leading the Huskies with a 159 (+15). Justin Ciombor was a stroke behind him at 160 (+16) followed by Jordan Burke at 162 (+18) and Clint Hyland with a 165 (+21). It was a tale of two rounds for Daniel Keefe who shot a 92 on day one. But, on the second day, Keefe carded a 75, UConn's second lowest round of the entire spring to date, to finish with a 167 (+23).
UConn will return to action on April 3-4 when the team heads to New Haven for the Yale Spring Classic, it’s first event of the spring played north of the Mason-Dixon line.
