UConn Edged 4-3 by James Madison

ORLANDO, FL (March 9) - After winning the doubles point with victories in two of three matches, the University of Connecticut women’s tennis team was edged by James Madison who took four of six singles matches to win by an overall score of 4-3.
JMU improves to 4-2 on the season with the win, while UConn drops to 2-6 with the loss.
The duo of junior Whitney Simcik (Exeter, Pa.) and freshman Alison Adamski (Jamaica Estates, N.Y.) pulled out a hard-fought 9-7 win at the No. 1 doubles spot, and the team of freshmen Ashley Petruzzi (Bradenton, Fla.) and Christine Burek (Wheaton, Ill.) won 8-6 at the No. 3 spot.
Following the doubles matches, UConn lost their top three singles matches, but came out victorious at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Adamski and Burek were double winners on the day in those positions, having both won their doubles matches. Burek lost the first set 6-1 to Kristen Nordstrom, but came back to win the second 6-2 and then take the tiebreaker 10-6.
UConn will return to action when they host the University of San Francisco on Tuesday, March 16. The time of the match is yet to be determined.
