PROVIDENCE, R.I. (June 10) - University of Connecticut men's track and field three-time All-American Will Thomas (South Kingstown, R.I.) has been awarded one of 31 graduate scholarships by the BIG EAST in partnership with Aéropostale.
As a scholar-athlete award winner, Thomas has been awarded $2,000 toward his graduate studies at UConn, where he will pursue a master's degree in coaching administration.
Thomas is no stranger to being recognized for his academic achievements, and less than two months ago was named one of six Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athletes at the annual UConn Club Awards Dinner.
Thomas has helped lead the Huskies to three BIG EAST Conference championships in his four years at UConn and has earned six individual BIG EAST titles. He qualified for the NCAA Championship in the decathlon in his first three outdoor seasons, and with the addition of the indoor heptathlon this season, Thomas again qualified for the NCAA Championships and placed fourth in the event to earn his third All-America title. He has not competed during the 2004 outdoor season due to injury.
