Legare Earns First All-American Honor

AUSTIN, TX (June 14) - Junior Joel Legare (Holden, Mass.) of the University of Connecticut men's track and field team has earned All-American status by virtue of his performance at the recent NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Austin, Texas.
Legare ran well in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run, finishing 12th overall in a time of 1:48.32. An athlete can achieve All-American status by either having one of the top eight times in the preliminaries, or by having one of the top eight times among Americans in the race. Legare's performance ranked as the eighth time among Americans, earning him his first career All-American honor.
Legare missed qualifying for the finals of the event by just 0.29 seconds. The ninth and final qualifier in the race ran a time of 1:48.03.
