Legare Competes at Olympic Trials

SACRAMENTO, CA (July 10) - University of Connecticut men's track and field All-American Joel Legare (Holden, Mass.) has finished competing at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 800-meter run. Legare finished 24th in the preliminaries and will not move on to the semifinals.
Legare's time of 1:49.41 placed him sixth of nine competitors in the third heat of the preliminaries.
Former Husky Elliott Blount placed ninth overall with a time of 1:48.67 to advance to the semifinals, where he placed 14th and did not advance to the finals.
The UConn men's team has one athlete left to participate in the Trials, as two-time All-American Paul Pisano (Toms River, N.J.) competes in the javelin qualifying round on Thursday, July 15.
