Army Edges Huskies, 1-0
WEST POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 8) – After picking up a 1-0 shutout on Friday night over the Army, the University of Connecticut men’s hockey team found itself on the losing end of a 1-0 score at Tate Rink on Saturday evening against the Black Knights. With the setback, UConn’s record stands at 4-14-2 with a 3-6-1 mark in Atlantic Hockey on the season, while the Army improves to 6-10-2 overall, 2-8-2 in Atlantic Hockey.
Black Knights freshman Robb Ross scored the lone goal of the game from Nick Cahill and Brad Howard on a power play opportunity at 9:55 in the first.
Senior Matt Grew (Yarmouthport, Mass.) had eight of the Huskies’ 29 shots, but Connecticut could not put anything past Brad Roberts as he turned aside all 29 in net for the Army. Sophomore goaltender Scott Tomes (Windham, N.H.) made 25 saves for UConn.
The Huskies take the road on Friday, Jan. 14, to face Quinnipiac in an Atlantic Hockey matchup beginning at 7:00 p.m.
