Huskies In Seventh After First Round Of ECAC Tournament

FARMINGTON, Conn. (Oct. 1) - The University of Connecticut men's golf team stands in seventh place after the first round of the ECAC Tournament, held at Tunxis Plantation on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies shot a 302 as a team on the day.
UConn was led by sophomore Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) who shot an even par 72 (37-35) to tie for ninth place. He was followed by junior Jason Parajeckas (Woburn, Mass.) who stands tied for 29th with a 76 (38-38). Sophomore A.J. Siekierski (North Grovenordale, Conn.) and freshman L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) are both tied for 32nd with scores of 77. Sierskierski shot 36-41 while Tosches had nines of 39-38. The final Husky in the team competition was junior Daniel White (Westford, Mass.) who finished the day in a tie for 37th after shooting 78 (43-35).
Five Huskies are also competing as individuals in the tournament. Freshman Nicholas Waddington (Amson, Conn.) is tied for 29th with a 76 (39-37) while classmate Tim Strout (Nashua, N.H.) is tied for 32nd after shooting 77 (38-39) on the day. Junior Jonathan Klein (Southington, Conn.) stands tied for 37th with a 78 (41-37), sophomore Ryan Dandeneau (Chepachet, R.I.) is tied for 43rd after shooting 79 (39-40) and senior Michael Hornung (Hartland, Wisc.) is tied for 45th after an 80 (41-39).
Monmouth University leads the team competition after the first day of play, shooting a 288. Central Connecticut and Dartmouth are tied for second with scores of 290. Kyle Chumas of Quinnipiac leads all players after a three-under-par 69 (35-34). There are currently seven other competitors under par.
The Huskies will conclude competition at the ECAC Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 2. Tee times begin at 9:30 a.m.
