Huskies Finish ECAC Tournament In Tie For Third

FARMINGTON, Conn. (Oct. 2) - The University of Connecticut men's golf team finished in a tie for third at the ECAC Tournament, held at Tunxis Plantation. UConn wrapped up the 36 hole event with a team score of 583 (302-281).
UConn was led by junior Jason Parajeckas (Woburn, Mass.), who finished in a tie for sixth after shooting a one-over par 143 (76-67) for the tournament. Sophomore Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) also tied for sixth with a 143 (72-71) while junior Daniel White (Westford, Mass.) tied for 28th with a 149 (78-71). Freshman L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) also tied for 28th with rounds of 77 and 17 (149). Sophomore A.J. Siekierski (North Grovenordale, Conn.) rounded out the Huskies team, finishing in a tie for 43rd with a 154 (77-77). UConn moved up three places as a team on the final day of competition, as they had closed out the first round in seventh place in a field of 10 teams.
Five Huskies also competed as individuals in the event. Sophomore Ryan Dandeneau (Chepachet, R.I.) was the highest UConn individual finisher, placing in a tie for 15th. He shot a 146 (79-67) for the tournament. Freshman Nicholas Waddington (Amson, Conn.) tied for 18th with a 147 (76-76), junior Jonathan Klein (Southington, Conn.) tied for 31st with a two-day total of 150 (78-72), while senior Michael Hornung (Hartland, Wisc.) finished in a tie for 34th with a total of 151 (80-71). Freshman Tim Strout (Nashua, N.H.) wrapped up the Huskies individual competitors by tying for 39th with a 153 (77-76).
Monmouth captured the team event with a score of 575 (288-287) while Dartmouth placed second with a 578 (290-288). Central Connecticut tied with UConn for third with a 583 after the Blue Devils shot rounds of 290 and 293. Hofstra placed fifth with a 590 (299-291) and Anthony Campanile of Monmouth earned medalist honors with a seven-under-par 135 (71-64).
The Huskies will next be in action on Saturday, Oct. 8 when they travel to New Haven, Conn. for the MacDonald Cup.
