Jason Parajeckas Named Golfweek Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 24) - University of Connecticut junior Jason Parajeckas (Woburn, Mass.) was named National Men's Player of the Week by Golfweek magazine on Monday afternoon following his two tournament wins for the week of Oct. 17-23. He is the first Husky to earn the honor.
Parajeckas captured his first title of the week with a five-under par 139 at the 71st Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship. He led the tournament with a first round 69 at the Starboard/Port Captains Golf Course before closing out the title with a 70 in the final round of play on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The junior continued his hot streak over the weekend, capturing the individual title at the Hawks Invitational, hosted by the University of Hartford at Gillette Ridge Golf Course. Parajeckas was in second place following a first round 72 then came back to take the title with a second round 79 for a two-day total of 151.
The Huskies will next be in action on Saturday, Nov. 5 when they travel to Winter Garden, Fla. for the BIG EAST - MAC Challenge. The tournament will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 6 and will wrap up UConn's fall schedule.
