Huskies Finish 13th At A Rain Soaked MacDonald Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Oct. 9) - The University of Connecticut men's golf team finished in 13th position out of 20 teams with a team score of 604 (309-295) at a rain soaked MacDonald Cup, held at the Yale Golf Course this weekend. After inclement weather postponed the conclusion of the first round, both rounds were completed on Sunday.
The Huskies were led by junior Daniel White (Westford, Mass.), who tied for 39th with a 150 (77-73) for the weekend. Sophomores A.J. Siekierski (North Grovenordale, Conn.) and Ryan Dandeneau (Chepachet, R.I.) tied for 47th with total scores of 151 for the two rounds. Sierskierski had rounds of 78 and 73 while Dandeneau turned in rounds of 76 and 75 for the tournament. Junior Jason Parajeckas (Woburn, Mass.) finished in a tie for 53rd with a 152 (78-74) while sophomore Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) rounded out the Husky lineup, finishing in a tie for 82nd with a 158 (81-77). UConn had been in 15th position heading into the final round of play.
The tournament was won by the University of Pennsylvania, who shot a 580 (291-289) for the two days. Dustin Wetherup of the University of Hartford won the individual event with a 134 (67-67).
The Huskies are next in action on Monday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Brewster, Mass. for the NEIGA Championships.
