Men's Golf Second at New England Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 24, 2005) - A.J. Siekierski and Jason Parajeckas finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively, to lead the University of Connecticut men's golf team to a second place finish out of 13 competing schools at the New England Division I Championship on Sunday at the par-72 Triggs Memorial Golf Club in Providence. UConn shot a 606 over the event's two rounds, placing the Huskies behind only Rhode Island, which carded a 593.
Siekierski was all alone in sixth place overall with his 149 while Parajeckas tied for seventh with his 150 that included a second-round 72, the third best score of the day out of 64 competitors. Justin Ciombor tied for 20th with his 155 while Brian Travalja was 23rd with a 156 and Jordan Burke pulled in with a 157 to tie for 26th overall. UConn and third-place Central Connecticut were the only schools to place each of its five golfers in the top 26.
The Huskies will conclude their regular season April 29-30 at the URI Spring Invitational in Newport, R.I.
