Golf Places Second at Yale Spring Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 10, 2005) - Freshman A.J. Siekierski earned medalist honors as the University of Connecticut men's golf team placed second overall with a 591 at the Yale Spring Invitational at the par-70 Yale University Golf Course in New Haven. The Huskies fell one stroke behind Boston College which shot a blistering 286 in Sunday's final round, eight shots better than any other school, and finished with a two-round total of 590.
Siekierski shot a 71 on Sunday, which coupled with Saturday's 72, gave him a score of 143, a stroke ahead of BC's Kyle Kelly and Cornell's Andrew Turker for the individual title. Mike Murphy also placed in the top 10 overall at the event for UConn, tying for eighth with his 147. Clint Hyland tied for 24th with a 151, Justin Ciombor tied for 37th with his 154 and Jason Parajeckas shot a 156 to tie for 52nd overall. Competing as an individual, Jordan Burke tied for 13th overall with a 149.
UConn will return to action on April 16-17 when the Huskies head to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy Spring Invitational.
