DiBiase and Gurney Collect BIG EAST Softball Postseason Honors
STORRS, Conn. (May 13) - University of Connecticut softball senior outfielder Stephanie DiBiase (Hamilton, N.J.) and senior pitcher Jessica Gurney (Williamstown, Mass.) received All-BIG EAST postseason honors as voted on by the conference’s 10 head coaches. DiBiase was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, while Gurney earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Third Team.
In 2004, DiBiase started all 45 games and led the Huskies in batting average, hits, runs scored, homeruns, RBI and slugging percentage. On the season, she totaled 38 hits for a .279 average with 21 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, four homeruns, 20 RBI and slugged .426.
Gurney posted a 15-16 record during the 2004 season with a 2.06 ERA. She totaled 27 complete games with eight shutouts and struck out 217 batters.
