Four Huskies Named to Atlantic Hockey
All-Academic Team
STORRS, Conn. (June 13) – Four members of the University of Connecticut men’s hockey squad were named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team for the 2004-05 academic year. Senior Adam Rhein (Cottage Grove, Minn.), sophomore J.R. Corkery (Salt Lake City, Utah), freshman Matt Demas (Summerville, S.C.) and freshman Archie Dessert (El Centro, Calif.) all posted GPAs over 3.0 to earn the honor.
Rhein earns his second All-Academic selection, as he also made the 2003-04 squad. In 2004-05 he appeared in all 37 games with two goals and one assist for three points. Rhein, a finance major, posted a 3.493 GPA his senior year.
Corkery saw action in 36 games this past season and totaled seven points on one goal and six assists. He recorded a 3.682 GPA and is majoring in biology.
The Huskies two other All-Academic team members were freshmen goaltender Matt Demas and defenseman Archie Dessert. Demas, a physics major, held the team’s highest GPA in 2004-05 at 3.866. He played in one game for a total of 3:18 with no goals allowed. Dessert posted a 3.213 GPA this year as a civil engineering major and played in five games.
