Cristin Allen Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

STORRS, Conn. (October 16, 2006) - University of Connecticut women’s hockey defenseman Cristin Allen (Pickering, Ont.) has been named the Hockey East Association’s Rookie of the Week. She is the first Husky of this young season to earn a weekly honor from the league.
Allen netted the game-winning goal in UConn’s 3-1 win over Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 14 when she converted during a second period power play. Allen later assisted on an insurance goal by Nicole Tritter with just over five minutes to play the third period. She also played admirably in UConn’s 3-0 loss to No. 4 St. Lawrence on Sunday.
Allen and the Huskies (3-1-0, 2-0-0 HE) will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, when UConn plays host to Maine in Hockey East action at 1:00 p.m. at the Freitas Ice Forum.
