Men's Tennis Final Day of Competition at UConn Invite

STORRS, Conn. (October 2, 2006) - Senior Joel Gamoran (Mercer Island, Wash.) made the most of his final UConn Invite by playing his way into the championship match of flight four finals before falling to Marist's Nyugen 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 on Sunday, Oct. 1, in Storrs, Conn.
Gamoran was the lone singles competitor for the Huskies on the final day of play at the UConn Invite. After losing the first set, he came back to easily take the second at 6-2. The two players battled before Nyugen was able to take the final set and the match.
In doubles action, Gamoran found himself playing in his second championship match of the day with teammate Nate Carvalho (Freetown, Mass.). The pair lost a close match to Feldman/Hughes of Quinnipiac, 9-7, in flight B doubles.
UConn will remain home to host Salve Regina in a dual match on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
