STORRS, CONN. (Oct. 27, 2006) – The University of Connecticut’s football game against Pittsburgh on Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11, will kick off at 3:30 p.m. at Rentschler Field. The game will be broadcast live regionally on SportsNet New York (SNY), WCTX (MyTV9) in Hartford/New Haven and WTAE (ABC) in Pittsburgh.
With this announcement, eight of UConn’s first nine games will have been televised with Army (Oct. 14) being the lone exception. The Huskies and Panthers have split the first two meetings between the newly-minted BIG EAST foes. UConn took a 29-17 decision over Pitt in the Panthers’ first appearance at Rentschler Field on Sept. 30, 2004. The Panthers got a measure of revenge last Nov. 12 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, blanking the Huskies, 24-0.
UConn (3-4, 0-2 BE) returns to action on Sunday night, Oct. 29, when the Huskies travel to Piscataway, N.J. to face No. 16 Rutgers (7-0, 2-0 BE) at 8:00 p.m. ESPN will broadcast the game nationally.
