Sullivan Captures 8th Place at NCAA Cross Country Regionals

BRONX, N.Y. (November 11, 2006) - Senior Jillian Sullivan (Bristol, Conn.) captured eighth place as the top UConn finisher in 21:22 at the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 11.
Sullivan will now wait to see if her time will qualify her for the NCAA Championships which will be announced on Sunday at 7 p.m.
"I'm so proud of Jillian's performance today and it is indicitive of the direction of our program," head coach Bill Morgan said. "I'm looking forward to her being selected to compete at the NCAA Championships and representing the University of Connecticut."
"Jillian ran a great race in a very competitive and deep field," distance coach Kim McGreevy said. "She is having an outstanding senior season and can hopefully continue at the NCAA Championships."
The next finisher for the Huskies was sophomore Kate Vaughan (New Bethel, Pa.) in 90th (23:41) while junior Orlaith Cunningham (Branford, Conn.) came in 122nd (24:14). Sophomore Rebecca McCollum (Monroe, Conn.) was right behind in 129th with a time of 24:26 and freshman Meghan Harrington (Chatham, N.J) finished 148th in 24:50. Freshman Sara Leslie (Portland, Conn.) came in 150th in 24:57.
"This team has worked all season and done everything I have asked of them," McGreevy said. "They will continue to develop as a young team and we're excited about what the future holds."
