HANOVER, N.H. (Feb. 26) -- Both the University of Connecticut men's and women's tennis teams lost matches on Sunday afternoon to Stony Brook. UConn's men's team lost by a 7-0 score to drop to 0-4 on the spring while the women lost 6-1 to the Seawolves to fall to 0-5. The Stony Brook men and women now stand at 3-3 and 3-1, respectively. The competitions were played at Dartmouth's Boss Tennis Center in Hanover, N.H.
The women's match nearly saw the Huskies take their first doubles point of the year. UConn was victorious at number two doubles where Jessica Porter and Lizz Dibbs teamed up for an 8-5 win, but UConn's BreAnn Cheung and Alison Koch fell by a narrow 9-7 score at number three. Singles saw Cheung post a 6-0, 7-5 win over Monica Myers at the number five position to pick up its lone point of the day. On the men's side, UConn dropped all three doubles matches and all six singles matches in straight sets.
The two teams are now off until next week when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for Spring Break. UConn will face Coastal Carolina (March 7) and Ithaca (March 8) in both genders while the men will also play Mount St. Mary's on March 6.
