Women's Tennis Falls to Seton Hall, 4-0

TAMPA, Fla. (April 22) -- The University of Connecticut women's tennis team wrapped up its 2006 season with a 4-0 loss to Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon in the consolation round final of the BIG EAST Championship in Tampa. UConn ends its season at 7-15 and in 10th place in the BIG EAST Conference, its best showing since a 7th place finish at the 2000 BIG EAST Championship.
Seton Hall got wins at the bottom two doubles positions to claim the match opening point. Christine Burek and BreAnn Cheung were locked in a tight 7-6 match at No. 1 when play was halted. Singles saw the Pirates get wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 to clinch the contest. In the suspended matches, UConn's Jessica Porter was near victory, leading 3-0 in the third set at No. 2.
