STORRS, Conn. (August 24, 2006) - Megan Cersosimo, a 2001 UConn graduate who has been a member of the women’s lacrosse coaching staff for the past five years, has been named the interim head coach of the University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team.
Bonnie Rosen, who was the Husky head coach since the program’s inception in 1997, recently accepted the head coaching position at Temple.
“Megan was an outstanding student-athlete here at UConn and has recruited the majority of the student-athletes that are in the program now,” says UConn Director of Athletics Jeff Hathaway. “She has a great knowledge of the University and the sport of women’s lacrosse and has great enthusiasm for the game. We are confident that she will do an excellent job in this position.”
Cersosimo, the former Megan Campbell, was a four-year letterwinner for the Huskies and was part of the program’s first recruiting class. She was named All-BIG EAST second team as a senior and to the North Regional All-American Second Team.
She was a captain in her junior and seniors years and left as the school career record holder in games started, ground balls and draw controls.
Cersosimo graduated from UConn with a degree in communications. She is married to UConn assistant football coach Matt Cersosimo.
