Women's Cross Country Competes Well at Penn State Nationals

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (October 12, 2007) – The University of Connecticut women’s cross country team finished in 17th place at the Penn State National Invitational held on Friday morning in State College, Pa.
"It was a tremendous field today and a great race," said distance coach Kim McGreevy. "This was one of the best meets in the country this weekend and I am really pleased with our focus throughout the race and our drive to the finish."
UConn's top finisher at the Penn State National was co-captain Kate Vaughan (Bethel Park, Pa.), who finished with a time of 23:03. Freshman Chrissy Meagher (West Roxbury, Mass.) followed in behind Vaughan at 23:17.
"We ran tough against some very competitive programs today," said head coach Bill Morgan. "I am very pleased with the improvement of our performances these last few weeks. It will definitely help us towards the end of the season in the championship races."
UConn will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 as the Huskies will compete in the Central Connecticut Mini-Meet in New Britain, Conn. The race will begin at 10:45 a.m.
