Men's Cross Country Finishes Second in CCSU Mini-Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (October 20, 2007) - In their final tune-up race before the BIG EAST Championship next weekend, the University of Connecticut men's cross country team finished second in the CCSU Mini-Meet Saturday. Will Sanders (Wethersfield, Conn.) was the top finisher for the Huskies, placing fourth with a time of 15:19.
All five scorers for UConn finished in the top 15. Will Melofchik (Wayside, N.J.) was sixth with a time 15:23. Colin Meyers (West Senica, N.Y.) was 11th with a time of 15:52. Scott Johnson (Old Lyme, Conn.) was 14th with a time of 16:06, while David McKay (Marlborough, Conn.) was right behind him in 15th at 16:07.
With the help of the top three finishers, Stony Brook placed first in the competition with 20 points. UConn was second with 50 points, New Hampshire third with 78, and the host CCSU fourth with 109.
The Huskies travel to Louisville for the BIG EAST Championship meet on Saturday, October 27. The race will be held in the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
