Men's Cross Country Places 14th at New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. (October 6, 2007) - The University of Connecticut men's cross country team placed 14th out of 41 teams Saturday at the annual New England Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Will Sanders (Wethersfield, Conn.) was the top Husky finisher, finishing 39th among collegiate participants with a time of 26:01.
In a very large field of 291 runners, the Huskies had two other finishers in the top 100. Team captain Will Melofchik (Wayside, N.J.) was 59th with a time of 26:23. David McKay (Marlborough, Conn.) was 80th with a time of 26:37.
Brown University won the competition with 95 points. The University of Massachusetts-Lowell was second with 123, and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst was third with 124.
The Huskies return to action on October 13 when they travel to Lafayette in Easton, Pa. for the Leopard Invitational. The race is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
