STORRS, CONN. (November 29, 2007) - The University of Connecticut men's hockey team returns to Atlantic Hockey Association action this weekend with a home-and-home series with Holy Cross. The Huskies host the Crusaders on Friday, with a 7:05 p.m. start at the Freitas Ice Forum. They will then travel to Worcester, Mass., Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. start at the Hart Center.
UConn (4-7-0 overall, 3-5-0 AHA) is coming off a split last weekend in non-conference action against Colgate. After dropping a 7-1 decision on Friday, the Huskies recorded their third overtime victory in as many weekends with a 2-1 win Saturday. Andrew Olson (Alexandria, Minn.) scored the overtime winner for Connecticut.
The Holy Cross Crusaders are 4-4-2 on the season and 3-3-2 in the AHA. They are coming off a weekend series at Air Force, where they lost 3-1 on Friday, and tied 5-5 on Saturday. The Crusaders’ leading scorer is sophomore Brodie Sheahan. He leads the team with six goals and seven assists in 10 games.
UConn has played Holy Cross 85 times, more than any other opponent. The Huskies have taken a 43-41-1 lead in the series, thanks to a 3-1 record against the Crusaders last season. They played a two-game set to end the regular season last year, with Connecticut winning 4-2 in Storrs and 5-2 in Worcester.
The Huskies have one last game before dispersing for exams and holiday break. UConn travels to AIC for an Atlantic Hockey Association game on Tuesday, December 4. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
