Governor Rell Visits With Football Team

STORRS, CONN. (Dec. 20, 2007) - Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell spoke to the UConn football team on Thursday at the Mark R. Shenkman Training Center during the team's final full practice session in Connecticut before the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 29 in Charlotte.
Rell told the team how proud she was of its accomplishments in 2007 which included a share of the BIG EAST Championship and the program's first-ever national ranking. On behalf of the state of Connecticut and herself she wished the Huskies the best of luck in their bowl game against Wake Forest.
UConn will face Wake Forest in the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 29 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN at 1:00 p.m.

Rell's route to the field at the Mark R. Shenkman Training Center brought her past large displays in The Burton Family Football Complex which recognize former Huskies in the NFL (left) and the 2004 Motor City Bowl championship (right).
Rell and Hogan were given gifts on behalf of the team from coach Edsall and captain Larry Taylor who was teased for being the same height as the Governor.
The Huskies listen as the Governor congratulates them on a great season and wishes them the best of luck in Charlotte.
