Tarsi Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (February 26, 2007) — University of Connecticut baseball junior starting pitcher Mike Tarsi (Danbury, Conn.) has been named to the BIG EAST Conference weekly baseball honor roll as announced by the league office Monday.
Tarsi turned in a dominating performance on the hill Saturday afternoon in leading the Huskies to an 8-1 win at Western Carolina for UConn’s first victory of the season. In fact, Tarsi’s win gave UConn fourth-year head coach Jim Penders his 100th career victory.
During Saturday’s game, Tarsi allowed just one run and scattered seven hits while walking two and striking out one in eight innings of work on the hill. While on the mound, the lefty induced three double plays, picked off two runners and allowed just one Catamount to reach third base.
Tarsi and the Huskies return to the diamond Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. to begin a three-game series at South Alabama.
