Men's Track And Field Enjoys Success At Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 14, 2007) — The University of Connecticut men's track and field team captured there individual titles as the Huskies competed at the Brown Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Rene Coleman (West Hartford, Conn.) finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.68. Coleman would also take second in the long jump with a distance of 22" 1.50', and fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 44". In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Troy Rochester (Danbury, Conn. earned the individual crown with a time of 49.18. Not far behind, freshman David Stephens (Mansfield, Conn.) took third place with his time of 50.07.
Senior Max Feldman (Easton, Conn.) won the individual title in the one mile run by recording a time of 4:09.75. Sophomore Will Sanders (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished in third place with his time of 4:18.73.
In the 400-meter hurdles, freshman Kyle Edmonds (Metuchen, N.J.) turned in a second place showing with his time of 54.60, while Rochester was eighth with a time of 1:00.07.
Sophomore Marquis Thomas (Mattapan, Mass.) took second in the high jump with a height of 6" 4.25'. Freshman Bryan Curley (Branford, Conn.) earned a third place finish in the pole vault with a height of 14" 1.25'.
In the shot put, sophomore Joe Staub (Stoneham, Mass.) finished sixth with a distance of 40" 9.50'. Fellow sophomore Andrew Bennett (Westbury, N.J.) was sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 149" 02'. Junior David Roy (Woonsocket, R.I.) won the title in the hammer throw with a distance of 168" 08', while junior Jesse Breault (Amity, Conn.) took fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 163" 04'.
UConn returns to action Saturday as the Huskies host the Husky Spring Invite from the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex.
