Golf Opens Fall Season

STORRS, Conn. (September 13, 2007)-- The University of Connecticut golf team, under the direction of new head coach Dave Pezzino, will open the 2007 fall campaign this weekend.
The Huskies will be competing on Friday and Saturday, September 14-15 at The International Golf Club in Bolton, MA at the 2007 Hawks Invitational, hosted by the University of Hartford.
The participating schools in the tournament are as follows: Binghamton, Brown, Columbia, Connecticut, Florida Gulf Coast, Hartford, Old Dominion, Penn State, Sacred Heart, San Francisco, St. John’s, Texas San Antonio and West Florida.
The 54-hole event will be played on the award-winning Oaks Course designed by Tom Fazio. The teams will play 36 holes on Friday and a final 18 on Saturday. The action begins at 7:30 a.m. each day with a shotgun start, and live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com (see link above).
Seeing action for the Huskies this weekend will be the five-man squad of seniors Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) and A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.), juniors Tim Strout (Nashua, N.H.) and L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) and freshman Chris DeLucia (Norwich, Conn.).
