Golf Finishes in Eighth Place at Hawks Invitational

BOLTON, Mass. (September 15, 2007)-- The University of Connecticut golf team, under the direction of new head coach Dave Pezzino, finished in eighth place at the 2007 Hawks Invitational, hosted by the University of Hartford at The International Golf Club.
The Huskies shot a team total of 909 in the 54-hole event to open the 2007 fall season. Old Dominion captured the team title with a score of 872 to edge out second place finisher Penn State (878). Keegan Bradley of St. John's captured the individual medalist honors with a three-day total of four-under 212, the only individual to finish under par for the weekend.
Leading the way for the Huskies was junior L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) in a tie for 26th place. Tosches shot a 13-over par total of 229 for the tourney. Freshman Chris DeLucia (Norwich, Conn.) finished in 34th place at 230, while senior Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) and junior Tim Strout (Nashua, N.H.) each shot 231 to tie for 35th place. Senior A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) rounded out the Husky performers in a tie for 58th place with a 238.
UConn returns to action on September 20-22 when it competes at the McLaughlin Cup at the Bethpage Red Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.
