Golf Stands in 14th Place at Adams Cup

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (September 25, 2007)-- The University of Connecticut golf team shot a two-round total of 631 and stands in 14th place after day one of competition at the Adams Cup of Newport hosted by the University of Rhode Island at Newport National G.C.
Wichita State holds the team lead in the 15-team field at 591, posting a six-shot advantage over the University of Maryland (597). Andrew Pitcher of Francis Marion University holds the individual lead at 144 (70-74).
The best Husky finisher on the day was senior Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.), who is tied for 18th place overall after shooting a 74 and a 76 for a total of 150. He was the only Husky to break 75 on the day.
The tournament concludes Wednesday with 18 holes of play.
