Melofchik Named Men's Cross Country Captain

STORRS, Conn. (September 25, 2007) -  Senior Will Melofchik (Wayside, N.J.) has been named captain of the cross country team, it was announced by assistant track and field coach Rich Miller Tuesday.

Melofchik is the top returning runner from the past season. A three-year veteran, he participated in the NCAA regional in 2006, finishing 58th with a time of 33:27. So far this season he has finished fifth in the UMass Invitational with a time of 25:52 and 11th in the Connecticut College Invitational with a time of 25:43.

Melofchik and the rest of the men's cross country team will be in action on October 6 when they participate in the annual New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Race time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
