Field Hockey's Melissa Gonzalez Leads USA to Gold Medal at Pan-Am Junior Championships

Gonzalez saw action in each of Team USA's five games, which saw them post an overall mark of 4-0-1 overall and outscore its opponents 37-4 overall.

Gonzalez notched two goals during USA's 21-0 win over Bermuda in round robin action and followed with a tally in a 6-1 win over Mexico in the semifinal match.

She also tabbed the equalizer in the gold-medal win over Chili, which sent the game into overtime.

Team USA defeated Chili 2-1 in extra time Sunday in the gold medal game.  Chili had tied USA 1-1 in a previous meeting in round robin play.
