Husky Golfers Open Spring at Florida Atlantic

West Palm Beach, Fla. (February 9, 2008)-- The University of Connecticut men’s golf opened the 2008 spring campaign with a dual match loss to Florida Atlantic Saturday at Bear Lakes Country Club.
The Huskies finished with a team total of 303, dropping the match by seven strokes to the Owls. Leading the way for the Huskies was freshman Mike Gunderson (Duxbury, Mass.) who shot a career-low 74 on the day. Senior co-captain Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) shot a 76, as did junior Bret Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.). Junior L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) carded a 77 on the day, while senior co-captain A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) rounded out the five-man squad with an 83. Freshman Chris DeLucia (Norwich, Conn.) competed as an individual and shot a 77.
UConn returns to action February 25-26 when it returns to Florida for action in the Argonaut Invitational, hosted by the University of West Florida, at Pensacola Country Club.
