Golf Tied for Seventh at CSU Kick Off

CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 3, 2008)-- Senior Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) stands in a tie for 17th place overall and the University of Connecticut golf team is in a tie for seventh place in the team standings after day one of competition Monday at the CSU Spring Kick Off Tournament, hosted by Charleston Southern University, at Coosaw Creek Country Club.
The University of Memphis holds the team lead after 36 holes on day one, shooting a two-round total of 570. UConn is tied with South Carolina-Beau at 604 after 36 holes. Ian Rochester of Memphis holds the individual lead by eight shots after shooting a ten-under total of 132 Monday.
Travalja shot 70 and 77 Monday to lead the Husky individuals. Senior A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) is tied for 30th after shooting 78-74--152. Freshman Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.J.) also stands tied for 30th at 78-74-152.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes.
