Golf Finishes Play at Thunderbird Invite

TEMPE, Ariz (April 13, 2008)-- Arizona State University placed four players in the top ten to capture the team title of its own tournament Sunday, the Thunderbird Invitational, at the Karsten Course. The University of Connecticut completed play in 16th place in the field.
The Sun Devils actually captured the first two team spots, with the "A" team taking a nine-shot victory over their "B" squad. Texas A&M and Colorado State tied for third place. Arizona State "A" finished the three-day tourney at nine-under 843.
Espen Kofstad of the University of Denver captured individual medalist honors at three-under, beating Knut Borsheim of ASU by one stroke. Senior A.J. Siekierski was the top UConn finisher at 11-over par, good for a tie for 57th place.
UConn returns to action on April 20-22 when it competes in the BIG EAST Championship at Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Ky.
