Rowing's Varsity Eight Finishes Ninth At Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (May 10, 2008) -- The University of Connecticut women's rowing team concluded its 2007-08 season at the Dad Vail Regatta on Sunday as the varsity eight boat finished ninth of 38 competitors.
The UConn varsity eight boat finished fourth in its semifinal heat in 6:26.346 and advanced to the second finals. The heat was won by Cal-Davis, followed by St. Joseph's, San Diego State, UConn, Dayton and Tulsa.
UConn finished third in the second final (6:44.970) to place ninth overall among varsity eight boats. San Diego State won the second final followed by Fordham, UConn, Saint Mary's and California.
The Husky novice eight boat was sixth in its semifinal heat in 7:10.201 and did not advance to the finals. Orange Coast won the heat that UConn was in.
The UConn second varsity eight was third in its semifinal heat and did not advance to the finals. The Huskies clocked in at 6:42.129 behind Massachusetts and George Mason and ahead of Lehigh and Santa Clara.
