Huskies Fall To Ferris State 6-1

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - In their final game of the weekend series against CCHA opponent Ferris State, the University of Connecticut men's hockey team fell 6-1 in front of 1,091 people at Ewigleben Ice Arena.
The Huskies drop to 0-2-0 on the season as the Bulldogs improve to 3-1-0 on the year.
After the first period, Ferris State was already out to a 2-0 lead after goals by Blair Riley and Todd Pococke. They added to their lead at 12:55 in the second when Matt Case notched a power play goal.
UConn cut into that lead before the end of the second period as freshman Sean Ambrosie (Moorhead, Minn.) recorded the first goal of his collegiate career at 17:08. Junior Jeff Sapieha (Calgary, Alberta) added the helper on the goal recording his first point of the season.
The Bulldogs added three more in the third period bringing their lead to five goals and finishing with a 6-1 victory.
Despite the five-goal advantage, the Bulldogs only outshot the Huskies 28-23. Freshman Jeff Larson (Marquette, Mich.) got his first career start between the pipes for the Huskies finishing the night with 22 saves.
UConn is back in action next Friday night when they will face off against their first Atlantic Hockey opponent of the season at Bentley at 7:05 p.m.
