Two UConn Tennis Players Win Qualifying Matches at ITA Regionals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Alison Campitiello (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman Lauren Wilmarth (Andover, Mass.) advanced in both singles and doubles at the ITA Regionals hosted by Yale on Friday. Campitiello and Wilmarth surpassed singles qualifying, moving into the main draw.
Wilmarth defeated Fairleigh Dickinson's Jessica DeCarlos in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) while it took Campitiello three before winning a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 decision over Kathryn Kvas from Bonaventure.
Sophomore Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) fell out of contention in the tournament after a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7) loss Egzona Morina of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Main draw competition of both singles and doubles begins on Saturday. One round of singles action begins in the afternoon following doubles play.
