STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut volleyball team looks to extend an eight-match winning streak in the all-time series against Harvard on Tuesday at 7 p.m. For the first time since 2005, the Huskies will take on the Crimson as they look for a way to recover from a 2-1 weekend at the UConn Toyota Classic.
Both the Huskies and the Crimson fell in the final matches of their respective tournaments this weekend. UConn lost a five-set decision to TCU while Harvard lost in four to an unbeaten Toledo squad in the last match of the Harvard Invitational.
At the UConn Toyota Classic, the Huskies opened the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Long Island in their first match of the season at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. UConn followed that win with another, this time against New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Jordan Kirk (Plano, Texas) led the team with a career-high 20 kills against the Wildcats. She finished that match with a team-best .341 hitting-percentage.
On Saturday night, Kirk contributed another career-high effort en route to a spot on the all-tournament team. She recorded a double-double with 14 kills and a career-best 15 digs against TCU. The outside hitter led a trio of Connecticut players with double-figures in kills.
Senior Jessica Isaac (Erlanger, Ky.) joined Kirk on the UConn Toyota Classic All-Tournament team after posting a season-high 22 digs to start the tournament against Long Island (Sept. 4). She followed that high with a pair of double-digit efforts against New Hampshire with 21 and 14 against the Horned Frogs in back-to-back matches on Saturday.
This is the first Ivy League opponent UConn has faced this season and first since hosting Cornell at last season's UConn Toyota Classic.
