Ellington, Conn. (October 12, 2010)-Iona College captured the team title and Justin Deitz of Siena College won the individual championship as play concluded Tuesday in the 2nd annual Connecticut Cup, hosted by the University of Connecticut at Ellington Ridge CC.

Iona finished two shots ahead of the UConn Blue team (897) and five shots clear of the Connecticut squad (900). American International (908), Hartford (913) and Sacred Heart (913) rounded out the top five teams in the standings.

Deitz shot a total of three-under 213 to win the medalist honors by six shots over UConn senior Jeb Buchanan. UConn senior Jeremy Troy finished tied for fifth, while junior Adam Vaccari and sophomore Brian Hughes tied for seventh.

The Huskies return to action on October 16-17 when they play in the Northeast Regional at Shelter Harbor GC in Charlestown, R.I.
