The UConn women's soccer team finished the regular season as the No. 4 seed in the BIG EAST American Division and will host the BIG EAST Tournament First Round against Louisville, the No. 5 seed in the National Division, on Thursday, October 28. The game will be played at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium in Storrs, Conn. at 3 p.m.
UConn lost today at Pittsburgh, 1-0, but stil claimed the No. 4 seed in the American Division. The Huskies (8-8-3) finished the regular season with a 4-5-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. UConn earned 14 points in the standings to claim the fourth seed in the American Division.
Louisville (10-8-0) recorded a 4-7-0 mark in the BIG EAST and claimed the fifth seed in the National Division.
UConn owns a 1-0-1 mark against Louisville all time. The Huskies tied the Cardinals, 1-1, in Louisville back in 2008. In the first meeting all-time between the two programs, UConn defeated Louisville, 2-1, in Storrs in 2005.
The winner of the first-round match will travel to South Bend, Ind. to face No. 1 seeded Notre Dame on Sunday, October 31 at 1 p.m. UConn and Notre Dame played to a 1-1 tie in Storrs on October 15.
The semifinals and finals of the BIG EAST Tournament will be held at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. on November 5 and 7.
