Moore Leads UConn Over Lehigh 81-38

STORRS, Conn. - Maya Moore scored 29 points to lead the No. 1 UConn women's basketball team to an 81-38 victory over Lehigh on Saturday night in the Huskies' second game of the World Vision Challenge in Storrs, Conn.
Moore finished the contest shooting 12-of-21 from the floor, while adding four steals, four assists and five rebounds. The senior scored UConn's first eight points of the night in the opening 2:14 and continued to net 15 of the Huskies' first 23 points in the first half.
An 18-3 run in a span of 7:57 in the first frame sparked the Huskies' 60-percent shooting (18-of-30) from the floor in the half, led by Moore, who scored 24 first-half points. Moore's 24 points in that half were the second most she's scored in a frame in her career, as she registered 25 of her 31 points against Marquette on Feb. 20, 2008 in the contest's opening half.
UConn finished the night shooting 53.3 percent (32-of-60), including a 6-of-16 clip from behind the arc.
Moore, who registered her 117th career game in double-figures, was UConn's scoring leader for the fourth straight contest. With the win, UConn extends its win streak to 83 consecutive games and improves to 5-0 on the year. Lehigh drops to 1-5 with tonight's loss.
UConn allowed just 19 points in both frames to Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks shot 31.9-percent on 15-of-47 shooting from the floor. The Huskies have now gone 232 consecutive games without allowing an opponent to shoot over .500 from the field.
Moore was joined in double figures by three other Huskies, led by Tiffany Hayes with 14 points. Hayes added a game-high nine rebounds, including seven from the defensive glass. Samarie Walker and Bria Hartley each chipped in with 11 points, while Walker shot 5-of-7 from the floor and pulled down seven rebounds.
Freshman Stefanie Dolson came in off the bench to net eight points in 10 minutes, while she shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor. She added a career-high three assists.
UConn out-rebounded the Mountain Hawks 40-21 and out scored Lehigh 46-14 in the paint. The Huskies also scored 28 points off 21 Lehigh turnovers.
UConn will face LSU on Sunday, November 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the Huskies' final game of the World Vision Challenge in Gampel Pavilion. LSU defeated Howard 69-39 on Saturday night after taking a 74-63 decision over Lehigh on Friday.
