Fugowski, Richards Named First Team All-BIG EAST

UConn women's soccer players Kacey Richards (Williamstown, N.J.) and Elise Fugowski (Stockholm, N.J.) were both named to the All-BIG EAST First Team tonight at the postseason banquet held at the Crowne Plaza in Piscataway, N.J.

Fugowski, an attacking center-midfielder, was honored by the BIG EAST for the first time in her career. She ranks second on the team with four assists and third on the squad with 14 points and five goals. Her five goals and four assists this season match her totals from the first-three seasons combined.
Louisville redshirt-freshman Christine Exeter was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year. Notre Dame's Melissa Henderson was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Mear. Georgetown's Ingrid Wells was honored as the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year.
Marquette, which finished 11-0-0 in BIG EAST play this season, swept the remaining awards. Junior Natalie Kulla was named Goalkeeper of the Year while junior Kerry McBride was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Year. Marquette Head Coach Markus Roeders was chosen by his peers as the BIG EAST Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive season.
The Huskies will face West Virginia on Friday in the BIG EAST Semifinals at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. on the campus of Rutgers University. The game is set to start at 5 p.m. and will be aired live through CBS College Sports Television. The game can also be heard on the UConn student radio, 91.7fm or WHUS.org.
The winner of Friday's game will go on to face the winner of the Marquette vs. USF in the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, at 12 p.m.
